Our 2025 anti-fraud public service campaign warns investors about the devastating impact relationship investment scams can have on their financial future. It raises awareness about this type of “long con” where scammers typically reach out online or through text messages, attempting to build trust ‒ sometimes through friendship or a romantic connection ‒ to convince you to put money into phony investments.
The campaign encourages investors to ignore, delete, and block messages from unknown senders, and to be wary of unsolicited investment opportunities no matter how much you trust the person.
The campaign features two videos and a resource page, Investor.gov/relationshipscams, about how relationship investment scams work, what investors should look out for, and how they can protect themselves and others. Check out the videos below.
